Unaccompanied minors (UM)
Unaccompanied minors from 5 to 11 years
We permit minors to travel alone as long as they fulfil the required safety regulations. It is understood that an unaccompanied minor refers to a child who is travelling without an adult of over18 years.
Due to the special characteristics of these types of passengers, online reservations are not permitted. Interested parties should contact Serviberia or their nearest local Iberia office or travel agency.
Unaccompanied minors from 12 to 17 years
Iberia has, for minors aged between 12 and 17 years, an assistance and companion service which must be requested beforehand. There is a charge for this service which also requires the express permission of the parents or guardians.
We recommend this service be requested when making the flight booking and that both the minor and his/her parents or guardians arrive at the airport early.
Online bookings are not permitted. Interested parties should contact Serviberia or their nearest local Iberia office or travel agency.
Further information with regard to this service can be obtained on the Iberia website:-

Wheelchairs
Special characteristics
For flight safety reasons and any possible damage to the aircraft, mechanically driven wheelchairs will only be accepted if stored in the aircraft hold and meet with the following requirements:-
Wheelchairs activated by dry-cell batteries:
Wheelchairs activated by a dry-cell battery should have the terminals insulated to avoid the possibility of a short circuit and the accumulator disconnected and fastened to the chair.
Wheelchairs activated by wet-cell batteries:
Wheelchairs activated by wet-cell batteries should be loaded, stowed, secured and unloaded in a vertical position with the accumulator disconnected and secured to the wheelchair and the terminals insulated. If the wheelchair does not meet these conditions, the accumulator should be detached and packaged as follows:-
· Packaging should be watertight, impervious to electrolyte and protected against violent movements.
· The accumulator should be protected against short circuits and travel in an upright position, packaged and surrounded by absorbent materials.
Passengers travelling with this type of wheelchair are requested to contact Iberia beforehand.
Wheelchairs are considered part of a passenger's personal belongings and will, therefore, not be subject to charges for excess luggage.
